For students who have completed the conversational Mandarin courses up through 212 and wish to continue on to 301, or others who can handle daily conversation in Mandarin but cannot read or write in the language. Pre: 212 or consent.

For students who have completed the oral communication courses up through JPN 212 and wish to continue on to JPN 301. Also appropriate for semi-bilingual students who lack literacy skills. Pre: 212 or consent.

Duolingo, completely free courses in several languages. Development is largely done on a volunteer basis, as such, the languages available vary quite often. Very useful for gaining a basic feel for a language, but the "tree" will likely be complete by A1 level and it isn't terribly useful after that. DL has also developed somewhat of a cult following. This one (1) day course is designed to emphasize the critical importance of the need for police officers to change their mindset toward report writing. Two approaches to effective writing are examined in this course. The first and most important component is WHY, and the second is HOW. This is not a remedial English Composition class because we recognize that you are a professional police officer. The goal of the class is for you to utilize the training and education that you already have had, refine your approach to what has been perceived as a mundane task, develop new skills toward gathering information, and begin writing reports that allow the reader to see what you, the writer, has seen in a coherent, sequential, accurate and complete way.

This two (2) day course is designed to prepare the crime scene investigator in the filming of a crime scene. The procedures necessary for a complete and thorough recording of a crime scene will be discussed as well as demonstrated.

This three (3) day course is designed to familiarize officers and dispatchers with street level Spanish which will emphasize colloquial phrases/survival phrases and discernible aptitude level of the officer. This will enhance skills in communicating with and assisting those non-English speaking members of the Hispanic community. 59ce067264
